Hard Cover to Paperback to Kindle to Ipad.

Ive always been the type of girl who loves to own the books I read. I like having the physical copy in my hand and turning the pages one by one. I also tended to read mostly paperback books. Don't ask me why. They felt more comfortable to read, not having to worry if you are bending the binding or wrinkling the cover.

Last Black Friday, the bf bought me a kindle. They were really on sale and I had been talking about how much I wanted one. It was really hard for me to not have that book in my lap while I was reading. And every so often I would go into the bookstore and buy a book.

But then I realized that buy using my kindle, I was doing a lot of good. I was still supporting the authors and publishing companions, and I was saving the landfills too. (Not that I would ever throw a book in the trash) but people do!

Lets take this one step further. I was enjoying my life as a happy kindle owner but I has also been consistently checking out the iPad. Well what do you know. My dad bought me one for my birthday. And let me tell you I was ecstatic.

I figured out how to transfer all my books from the Kindle app onto my iPad and I was set to go. But I have been finding it hard to browse for books on the kindle website. I also always judge a book by its cover. But only in the literal sense. I don't judge people by how they look.only books. don't worry! So the new tactic is to stand in Target and take pictures of the book covers that I like. Then I get home and download the samples on my iPad. Then I can make a decision on what I want to read next.

If you follow me on Twitter (@storiesofagirl_) You know that I have been having a hard time getting through the third 50 shades book. I sailed right through the first 2 and I'm really struggling through the third. So there I stood in Target...

Whats your favorite way to read a good book? Have any good book suggestions?
Let me know! I would love to hear from you!

Im headed up north for a little getaway with the bf and some friends. Posting may be few and far between but a new blog design from this girl is in the near future! Come back to see it!

  1. I am with you on the difficult transition from physical books to e-reader. I was pondering Nook vs Kindle vs iPad when we happened to WIN an iPad at my husband's national work meetings! Lucky, lucky! I too have a hard time tearing away from the bookstore. Here is what is helping me tremendously....use goodreads.com. You put in the zillion books you've read, rate them, then they give you oodles of books you might like based on your reads. This has opened a world of authors I hadn't experienced. I also look for free books (I am definitely a cheap reader!) so check out iBooks, Barnes and Noble and Amazon. Put free ebooks in their search. You can download the Nook, Kobo, Kindle and iBooks on iPad and that opens up a lot. Finally sign up with pixelofink.com or link thru Facebook. They have five or six FREE books you can get daily three times a day!!! Not always what I want, but I've picked up many that way. Ohhhhhh.....don't forget your local library! You can check out books online from there if your library participates. Hope this helps. I'm still working on it!
