a weekend of good eating and good friends with a trip on the horizon

 photo fd5b734f-e239-4845-9cd5-9c5a5b3086a0_zps94daabd9.jpg

1// I was dog sitting my parents dog for the weekend. He was so upset about them leaving that he wouldn't eat or drink anything the whole time I was there(beside a few dry biscuits).

2// Havent had Starbs in ages. The barista convinced me to try a Hazelnut Macchiato instead of my usual Hazelnut latte with skim. I wouldn't recommend it. She told me she would make me something else if I didn't like it but I didn't have the heart to tell her.

3// Lunch at Biaggi's an Italian cafe in Madison. I had a turkey and avocado sandwich with some sort of balsamic dressing on it and a bowl of creamy chicken soup. to.die.for. If you are ever in the Madison area, try Biaggi's.

4// Dalton was in desperate need of a new shirt for my dads wedding this weekend. Its beach casual and I loved this shirt. Not sure he is so keen on it but ah, whatever.

5// Some much needed time chatting with these two girls on Saturday night.

6// Gourmet Omelets on Sunday morning. Every ingredient you could think of! Matt should really think about opening up a breakfast joint.

7// My mom got me this adorable mug. It says "alligator" on the side. Of course a nick name for anybody with the name ali.

8// Dalton and I are headed to Florida with my grandma and aunt on Thursday. My dad is getting married on Saturday and I wouldn't miss it for the world. I'm glad that Dalton will be with too. It will be a nice little distraction from all that is going on at school. Not to mention we will be hitting up the Wizzarding World of Harry Potter on Sunday.

Singing in the rain and showering babies

Seems like a weird combo...I guess I could explain.
 photo 71d9977e-8e32-4097-8095-98687dddb2d2_zps87eb80c8.jpg

Maddie (dalton's sweet step sister) was involved with her high school's production of Singing in the Rain. This particular high school has some real talent. The singing and dancing was second to none. I ended up missing a good portion of the musical after being locked out of the aud. for quite some time. They let me back to my seat (without my ticket) right before intermission and just in time to see the "singing in the rain" scene.

Saturday was my cousins "friend" baby shower. I guess a cousin falls into the category of both family and friend so I went to both shower's. After not receiving much off of her registry at the family baby shower we hosted, Jolynn was relieved to receive some much needed items at the "friends" shower. Baby "o" was extremely active during the shower and we could see him moving around from across the room. It is such a remarkable thing to witness. I sure cant wait to see him though!

Dalton was in an ice fishing tournament with some of this good friends on Saturday. That night I offered to pick him up after having dinner with my parents. He was ready to get out of the cold so I drove to where I thought he would be. I could not find him anywhere. He was trying to explain where he was but it was dark and I just could not figure it out. The frustration and worry is only amplified by the fact that the spot where they were fishing is directly across from the Mental Health Hospital and a large, very dark wooded area. To make a long story short I was driving and crying and scared (inside the car) while Dalton is wandering through the woods of the mental hospital. We were both freaked out but I found him in the end. He ended up walking all the way out to the main road where I finally spotted him. Phew.

Sunday afternoon we met "soft grandpa" for lunch at one of our favorite local italian deli's

Gone Fishin

Sunday we spent the afternoon on Blackhawk lake. The sun was shining and man was it beautiful.

The scenery truly reminded me that even though I am getting really tired of winter, it truly is such a beautiful season.
((But really, spring can come anytime now))

Goats, Music, Tea Kettles, and Guitar Hero

 photo 31dcfda6-46c8-44a6-8e03-dbfb7f6ee99c_zps976b22f4.jpg
1// One of Dalton's best friends has quite the little goat farm operation going on. Friday night he enlisted our help so we brought Dalton's little sister Paige out so she could help feed the goats.
2// I wanted to take them all home. Unfortunately we had to see a few of the goats pass away. They were just too small and even a shot of Karo syrup (to give them quick sugars) wouldn't revive them. ((This is Paige feeding one of the healthy goats.))

3// Pandora is such a great way to find new bands that I love. These two are some of my most recent findings. ((Ray LaMontagne and The Civil Wars)) The station that these played on was the Ray LaMontagne station. You should definitely add it to your Pandora list.
4// I have been searching every where for a robins egg blue tea kettle. Dalton (with some help from his mom) found one that is almost the perfect color and he gave it to me as a little valentines day surprise.

5// Saturday night we stayed in and played taboo, guitar hero, and Just dance three for hours. It was a good night.
6// We met Dalton's grandparents for a late birthday lunch on Sunday afternoon. I had the bloomin' onion burger and it was to-die-for.

Weekend Recap

 photo 9068b399-2ebf-4e9d-9dcf-c00a30c9846d_zps0ea663be.jpg

1// Daltons birthday is tomorrow. The big 2-0. We celebrated a little this weekend with a few drinks (maybe a few too many) some jumbalaya, and some red velvet cake.
2// My cousins babyshower was also this weekend. We were decorating and crafting up until the last minute. I will share more details from the baby shower later this week.
3// Dalton took me ice fishing on saturday. Didn't catch much more than a cold but it was fun none the less.
4// Daltons parents joined us on the ice for a few minutes and brought the dogs along too.
5// We went out to lunch with Daltons grandpa on saturday afternoon.
6// Watching Maddie perform at a dance fundraiser on friday night. Such a talented bunch.
7// The boys decided to embarrass maddie by presenting her with flowers.
8// Ike, Dalton and I took a trip to Gander Mountain. Yes, dogs are allowed in Gander Mountain but many people gave us some weird looks. Also, when Ike was a puppy he would without fail poop or pee under at least one clothes rack. Bad parenting. No accidents this time though.
9// Friday night we also celebrated a birthday for a good family friend at one of our favorite local supper clubs.

It was a good weekend I must say.

I'm linking up with one of my new favorite blogs...

Whats happenin'

So, lots has been going on around here.
Hence the small amount of posts. Im not apologizing though because life has been just plain crazy.

I figured I would solve this by having slight diarrhea of the mouth and covering everything that has been happenin' in my life the past few weeks.
Lets say hello to monday together.

My cousin and I were in charge of making picture boards for my grandmas funeral. It was honestly so therapeutic. Not to mention we found out that my grandma never denied a party. Hence the dino sized bottle of champange in the center of the picture. Im guessing that also explains the glazed over look in my grandmas eyes. It was fun to see this.

My cousin, the picture board master. Also several months pregnant.

On a different note, Daltons mom's house is almost finished. The move in date is set for next weekend. Its amazing to see the building a house process. Way to many decisions for me. Ill stick to dreaming of an old farmhouse.

I ordered a gift for my mom from oh hello friend. I couldn't get over the adorable packaging. I would show the gift but I don't want mom to read this and find out. NO peaking before christmas.

Can you believe it is December already. Its almost 60 in Wisconsin today. We aren't used to this kind of weather in December. Im kinda missing snow (shhh don't tell anyone I said that)

Is all of your christmas shopping done? I just have a few people left. The hard ones of course. Then its wrapping, wrapping, wrapping for a few days. Its one of my favorite parts of the holidays. I love wrapping presents. Ive thought about being one of those volunteers at the mall who will wrap your presents for free. But then I figure I would get one of those obnoxious shaped boxes from victoria's secret and have absolutely no idea where to begin.

See my two favorite december desktop calendars here and here. They're tied. I just cant decide.

Insta friday

Im linking up again this week at life rearranged.
Head on over there to see what this friday ritual is all about.

We took a little day trip up to the Wisconsin Dells. Dalton used to work there during the summers and was able to get us on a duck ride for free. We also went to see the Tommy Bartlet ski show. Loved it.

Chinese for dinner is always a special treat.

We went out for Dalton's grandma's birthday on tuesday.
Steak covered in a creamy crab sauce with a garlic potato. To.Die.For

volleyball hot shot.

Happy friday.
As for my last weekend at home?
Work Friday, Work Saturday. Work Sunday.
Bummer.
